Funeral Speech; Brutus vs. Anthony

I think that Anthony's speech was much more powerful because it was based mostly on fact whereas Brutus's speech was mostly based on he and his colleagues honor that killing Caesar was the right thing to do. Anthony also did a good job of creating doubt in his audience that Brutus and his colleagues are honorable by repeating "honorable men" in a sarcastic tone. I would also say that Anthony incorporated pathos, ethos, and logos. For example, anthony appealed to his audience's emotions by saying "I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him." This makes the audience think about how Caesar was such a great man and that they should be praising him as a king right now, not burying him. Anthony also appeals to his character by saying "I speak not to disprove what Brutus spoke, But here I am to speak what I do know." This makes the audience trust him and think that he will not tell them anything but facts. Finally, Anthony appeals to his audience's logic by pointing out why Caesar wasn't ambitious. As stated, "I thrice presented him a kingly crown, which he did thrice refuse, Was this ambition?" Also, "When that the poor cried, Caesar hath wept. Ambition should be made of sterner stuff."
